Facebook Help 'Heal' Lion Paralyzed



RIO DE JANEIRO - Brazilian events in the following seemed to be an accurate picture of the power of social media at this time. Imagine, only armed with the campaign through Facebook and Twitter, Raquel Borges can ensure peliharaannnya lion who suffer a rare disease can gradually recover.

Ariel is a three-year-old lion who suffered from a rare disease in his endurance, so that two legs paralyzed since a year ago. Doctors had to perform surgery on his tail bone, which was claimed to cause paralysis. But after surgery, Ariel was even more weakened by his hind legs paralyzed, too.

Reuters reported on Thursday (07/21/2011), approximately 60 thousand Facebook users click the 'like' and hundreds of others to donate their money into two bank accounts belonging to the foundation Raquel who sought help for stranded animals.

Social media can indeed have a significant role in modern human life, where most people are always connected to the internet. The most obvious example of course, the revolution that occurred in Egypt in early January.
